I have a few things to say today.

The first is that I want to ask you all to pray for a hurting family that I know in Humboldt County, my other home. We attended a small woodsy church there, full of the sweetest people. The pastor and his wife lost their son yesterday to a freak sinus infection that moved into his brain stem. I've never heard of such a thing, and now it has made a deep groove on all of their lives.

He was only eighteen, a friend of ours too, and I remember him singing his heart out to Jesus. He was a kind, kind person. Pray for his family, his mother, his twin brother, and his special friend. They are all hurting and it must be so hard.

The second thing: Happy New President Day! We are very happy with the outcome of the election. Don't be fooled by our far off house; we've watched every debate and election news has replaced most of the other input to this house in this village in India. (I was reflecting, the other day, on how I was already an expat even before I came to India. I'm an expatpat.)

It is historical and wonderful that a man with the same racial makeup as my children is holding the highest office in the country. I am hopeful for change.

And the third thing is that Chinua and I have been working on a special project that I am very excited to show you.

It's a calendar and we really made it together; we both took the photos, he formatted it and I wrote the text.

The photos show a little of why we love to travel. I think it's a beautiful calendar and our hearts are in it; I love the idea that you can have a little bit of our lives in your own house, as well as a little bit of California, India, Israel, Burkina Faso, and Turkey.

I'll stick it in the sidebar soon, but for now, you can see it here.
